Umbro is an English company originating from Wilmslow, Cheshire. In 2010 it celebrates its 100th year of operation (although it was only named Umbro in 1924). Umbro specialises in all forms of sports wear, selling everything from training gear to shin pads to match day kits.

Umbro also has ranges of casual clothing and trainers, but is most famous for making kits of some of the largest teams in the world. The first major team kit produced by Umbro was for Manchester City in 1934, the year City won the FA Cup. As of 2009 Umbro have agreed to supply City’s kit again whilst also supplying other Premier League sides such as Birmingham.

Umbro is probably most famous for supplying National team kits. In the 1966 World Cup fifteen out of the 16 competing teams wore Umbro produced kits. Most notably the England National team has had a long standing relationship with Umbro who have supplied the team kit for many years. Umbro is also official manufacturer of the English FA Cup and official sponsors of the New Wembley Stadium.
Umbro have recently introduced their new line of football shinpads. The design mirrors the looks of the highly regarded Speciali football boots. The world famous Umbro diamond logo is a large feature of the design but these shinpads are not just aesthetically pleasing. They are designed to provide the highest class impact protection to be worn during matches or in training. The pads have fully adjustable straps so no matter what the shape of your leg the shinpad will always remain comfortable and in the desired position. They don’t even shift during long intense matches or during rapid bursts of sprinting. The Pro model comes with a porous sleeve. This is to be worn on top of the shinpad and provides compression to the leg to keep the muscles from fatigue whilst the porous design allows the leg to breathe and stay cool. The sleeve also further ensures the pad will not slip about during match play and is embossed with the Umbro diamonds logo. The trophy guard can be brought, which comes with ankle sock for ankle protection with stirrups which provide better support during strenuous movement.
All Umbro shinpads are designed to be lightweight whilst providing the highest protection. With some shinpads there is movement of the pad during game play, but Umbro’s unique design certifies this does not occur. This is especially important given the demands of the modern game. Due to their partnership with the England Football team Umbro have licensed England designed shinpads.
